I'm hoping to get video of the performance to edit and share later, but if you can, you should see it all happen live. We still have a very small number of seats available for tonight's performance at 8pm and tomorrow's shows at 2 and 8. Email [email protected] for reservations.
Whew! It's been an amazing run so far of Nobody's Home. For the past week my room has been transformed into a talk show/meditation hall/dance floor and I've invited strangers over every night. I feed them, serve tea, wash feet, tell coyote stories, jump around on the bed, and much more. I don't want to spoil all the surprises.
I'm hoping to get video of the performance to edit and share later, but if you can, you should see it all happen live. We still have a very small number of seats available for tonight's performance at 8pm and tomorrow's shows at 2 and 8. Email [email protected] for reservations. Tonight is the Lonely at Last Cabaret to be held at the Finney & Son Tombstone and Mausoleum Showroom (531 N 12th St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19123) at 8 o'clock in the evening. This fundraising cabaret benefits my upcoming 2013 Philly Fringe project Go Long Big Softie with collaborators Scott Sheppard and Charlotte Ford. Hope to see you there!
I also just sent out a big update email. If you're not on my email list, and would like to be, head over to the contact section of my webpage This Philadelphia Fringe Festival I will be co-creating a brand new piece of devised theater with Charlotte Ford and Scott Sheppard, artistic director of The Groundswell Players.
The piece, entitled Go Long Big Softie, will be performed by Scott and myself, and will be an exploration of the hard and soft questions of contemporary masculine identity. It is a meaty subject, and a natural extension of some of the work I have been doing with my solo Punkmonk. The Kickstarter campaign is now live and I would deeply appreciate any support you can offer. If you are not able to contribute financially, please consider spreading the word about the show and the fundraising effort. Sharing the campaign on your Facebook wall is particularly helpful. The link is here. ALSO Spread the word about Groundswell's Lonely At Last Cabaret, to be held at the Finney & Son Tombstone and Mausoleum Showroom at 8pm on Saturday, June 22nd. This fundraising cabaret benefits Go Long Big Softie and tickets can be purchased at the door or through Kickstarter. FINALLY Spots are starting to fill up for my Solow Festival performance of Nobody's Home. The show runs June 26th-29th at 8pm each night and you can RSVP by emailing here. Here is the video for The Unquestioned Answer. An improvisational lecture on consciousness I co-created with Murmuration for Thirdbird's Blind Date series.
Murmuration is made up of: Russell Kotcher - Violin Eric Coyne - Cello Andrew Marsh - Vocals, Trumpet The music, movement, and talking is all a structured improvisation. Wild! My feet are all beat up from nonstop dancing in May, but they survived, and have successfully carried me on into June.
After shatter:::dawn closed, I went right into work for my final showing at the LAB. This experiment, which is an extension of Punkmonk that I am calling Drunkmonk, is wild and crazy. It is more performance art than anything else I have ever done. Drunkmonk is an athletic endeavor that involves boxing rounds of performative acts alternated with rounds of speed drinking. I talk about Muay Thai training, monks, Buddhism, antlers, and women. All this happens tomorrow and signifies the end of my LAB fellowship. Wow. I'm also in rehearsals now for a new solo I am creating for the Solow Festival called Nobody's Home. Here is a short blurb about the piece. Check out the Facebook event for details on showtimes and ticketing. I strongly encourage you to RSVP as space is limited. --- A mysterious voice, strange fruit, dubious tea, famous special guests, million-dollar questions, game show prizes, a foot massage and a coyote all become bedfellows in Nobody’s Home, an hour-long multi-sensory meditation, performed for an extraordinary audience in an ordinary bedroom. |
